Camping Recipes Are you wondering what you're going to cook without the comforts of your stove or oven. Don't fret, there are plenty of ways to be creative when it comes to campfire cooking. Here are some recipes to get you started. Omelets in a bag This is a great – easy to clean breakfast that uses up the leftovers. Pull together all the leftovers and place them out on the table. Take Ziploc bags and have each person crack open and pour two eggs into their bag. Have them add whatever items they want to their eggs (or eat them plain), season them, and put the bags into boiling water for about 3 minutes. Be careful when opening the bags, the steam can get very hot. We let the bags cool and eat them right out of the bags but you can serve them up on plates. Beans & Dogs over the Grill Take a can of beans and take off the lid, place the beans right on the fire or the grill and let them heat up. Meanwhile, find sticks long enough to hold a hot dog and still keep the kids far enough away from the heat. Place the hot dog on the stick and let them cook up their own lunch. It doesn’t get much easier than that! Foil Meals Items for this meal can be prepared ahead of time. Take ground meat, peppers, onions, mushrooms, carrots, celery, and potatoes and cut them up into about ½ inch cubes. Then take a piece of aluminum foil (we suggest the extra heavy type) about 24 inches long. Fold the foil in half with the shiny side out. Open the foil and place whatever items you want to eat on the inside. Refold the foil and fold over the top and sides at least twice (2x). Place the foil on the fire or grill and turn it occasionally. Your meal should be ready in 20-30 minutes (depending on the amount of food you placed inside). Banana Chocolate Melt Take a piece of foil (large enough to cover the banana) and place a banana on it. Slice the banana with the peel still on it length wise. Cut it down close to the other side without cutting through the peel on the other side. Stuff the sliced area with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips. Wrap up the banana with the foil and place in the fire or on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until the chocolate has melted. Be careful, banana will be hot when first opened.
